** it comes with built-in bunky boards!! Yay!! **We chose white, which is lovely. This bunk bed set is perfect for little children in the age range of 2 - 10. I say this because although it uses twin sized mattresses, it feels on the smallish size. Perhaps this is because it is not as high as many bunk beds I have seen. The distance between the bottom matters and the bottom of the top bunk is also pretty small. So I would suggest that one avoid using a pillow top mattress on the bottom bunk as we have done. I appreciate the fact that it's not that high from the floor as well, so falls are not as much less of a concern. Also, the top bunk has sturdy rails that prevent rolling off if you don't use a pillow top mattress; which would exceed the height of the rails.The bed is quite sturdy and easy to assemble if you follow the instructions. The only glitch I found is that many of the wooden pieces were not labeled. So you had to use the pictures as a guide. And there were a number of screws that were very similar in size that again, you had to use the instructions as a guide for placement.Overall, we are super pleased with this purchase. Our girls love it, therefore we love it!!!
